Getting to Iowa City by Airport

The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is the closest airport to Iowa City, located about 20 miles from the Coralville Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. This airport sees five airlines, with non-stop flights to fourteen national airports. Upon arrival, there are numerous rental car and ride-share services available for transportation to the conference site, as well as a courtesy shuttle counter to transport to local hotels. 

Other options include Quad City International Airport, located roughly one hour from the Convention Center, Des Moines International Airport, located roughly two hours from the Convention Center, and Chicago O'Hare Airport located roughly three hours from the Convention Center. Information about rental cars can be found on each of the airport websites.

Getting Around By Car

If you are renting a car, or driving your own, there are parking garages, parking lots, and on-street (metered) parking near the Coralville Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. Recognizing that there is a high-volume for parking in downtown Iowa City, the best place to park for the convention center are the Iowa River Landing: North Ramp & South Lot and The Coralville Transit Intermodal Facility. 

Iowa River Landing: North Ramp & South Lot
The North Ramp and South Lot have 1,100 spaces of paid parking. Parking fees are $1.00 per hour with an $8 daily maximum, located at:

  • North Parking Ramp: 300 E. 9th St. (north of the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Conference Center)
  • South Parking Lot: 300 E. 9th St. (south of the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Conference Center)

 

Coralville Transit Intermodal Facility
This multi-modal facility located at 906 Quarry Road opened in 2015 and includes General Parking on the 3rd level. There are 159 available parking spaces for retail/district public parking. 

 

Rideshare

Uber, Lyft and Taxi services are all available in Iowa City, IA. 

 

Zipcar

Zipcar is available in Iowa City, IA. To become a Zipcar member, you must apply online and receive a Zipcard via mail before renting a car.

Getting Around by Transit

Bus

There are three buses that run throughout the downtown area in Iowa City. Iowa City Transit operates every half-hour on most routes during "rush" hour, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hourly service runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and all day Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no service on Sunday.

Letter of Invitation

A letter of invitation is provided only after you have completed registration for the conference and paid the conference registration fee. Such a letter may be needed to obtain a visa or permission to attend the meeting. If you require an invitation letter please contact the conference organizers via email. The letter will be provided by email.

The Conference cannot contact or intervene with any Embassy or Consulate office abroad on your behalf so please begin your visa application process as soon as you determine that you wish to attend ISBI 2020. Please provide as much information as possible to avoid delays in receiving your letter. You must register for the conference and pay in full before requesting an invitation letter.
